Two proposed Wisconsin rule changes are currently under consideration that could impact hearing instrument specialists, audiologists, and speech-language pathologists.
License Renewal After 5+ Years Expired
Current Status: Drafting Rule
A proposed rule would simplify the process for renewing a license that has been expired for more than five years. Instead of requiring an active license in another state or a recently passed licensing exam, applicants would only need to pay the required fees and complete continuing education requirements.
Audiologist Practical Examination Waiver
Current Status: Drafting Rule
A second proposed rule would update and clarify the practical examination requirement for audiologist licensure. The proposal reinforces that a waiver of the practical exam is available for applicants whose education and training are substantially equivalent and provides clearer guidance on the waiver request process.
WAHP will continue to monitor these proposals and share updates as they move through the rulemaking process.
